Steward's Report
A pre-race sample was taken from Silver Lake.
Bearing Gold was quick to begin. Oda May was slow to begin. Silver Lake and Bearing Gold collided approaching the first turn checking Bearing Gold. Silver Lake visibly eased and turned its head outwards on the first turn and collided with White Flower severely checking both greyhounds. Gleeson was checked off Silver Lake on the first turn. Gleeson and Crown Ella collided entering the home straight. Bearing Gold and Silver Lake collided in the home straight.
Silver Lake underwent a post race veterinary examination and was found to have an injured left chest muscle. A 21 day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mrs. L. Gough, the trainer of Silver Lake regarding the greyhound’s racing manners on the first turn. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69A(1) Silver Lake was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mrs. Gough pleaded guilty to the charge, Silver Lake was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Warragul and must perform a satisfactory trial in accordance with GAR 69A(2) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
