Steward's Report
Aston Kayee was slow to begin.
Mono Chromatic crossed to the inside soon after the start and collided with Wake Up Dusty. Wake Up Dusty checked off Mono Chromatic at the 300m mark. Aston Kayee veered out and marred Mono Chromatic approaching the 150m mark. Mono Chromatic turned its head outwards and visibly eased approaching the 150m mark and collided with Wake Up Dusty. Wake Up Dusty and Mill Express collided at the 150m mark. Mono Chromatic visibly eased and turned its head outwards approaching the 100m mark and collided with Mill Express, severely checking Wake Up Dusty. Aston Kayee checked off You Know Me approaching the 50m mark. Mono Chromatic and Mill Express collided several times approaching the winning post.
Aston Kayee underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported. Stewards spoke to Mr Simon Mallia, the trainer of Aston Kayee regarding the greyhound’s racing manners approaching the 150m mark. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(1) Aston Kayee was charged with marring. Mr Mallia pleaded guilty to the charge, Aston Kayee was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Healesville and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69(2) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
Mono Chromatic underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was re-examined following Race 5. Mono Chromatic was found to have a right pencil muscle injury. A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Mr Colin Brennan, the representative of Mono Chromatic regarding the greyhound’s racing manners approaching the 150m mark and again approaching the 100m mark. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69B (1) Mono Chromatic was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr Brennan pleaded guilty to the charge, Mono Chromatic was found guilty and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69B (1) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
Stewards reminded the Starter of his responsibilities and that the amber light is to be activated when the greyhounds are called up for boxing.
