Steward's Report
Sicilian was slow to begin.
Come On Levendi and Bonnie Gem collided approaching the first turn. Miss Angel Di and Shining Gem collided on the first turn. Come On Levendi and Aston Lila collided on the first turn. Aston Lila faltered on the first turn and crossed out. Bonnie Gem galloped on Aston Lila on the first turn. Come On Levendi visably eased and turned its head out on the first turn. Bonnie Gem and Invictus Stella collided entering the home straight.
Come On Levendi underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a mouth injury; a five day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Mr Stavros Kipirtidis, the trainer of Come On Levendi regarding the greyhound’s racing manners on the first turn. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69A(1), Come On Levendi was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr Kipirtidis pleaded guilty to the charge and Come On Levendi was suspended for 28 days at Cranbourne and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69A(2) and GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
It was noted that the muzzle of Come On Levendi became caught in the greyhound’s mouth during the running of the event.
Aston Lila underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a right hindleg thigh muscle injury. A 14 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Ms Renata Silva, the trainer of Aston Lila regarding the greyhound's injury. In accordance with GAR 75(1), the Stewards requested Ms Silva to report as soon as practicable anything that may have further affected the running of Aston Lila in the event, which was not noted by Stewards during or immediately after the event.
