The start was delayed by approximately one minute due to holding for an Albion Park harness race.
Why Not Hutch, Lily Rose Jazz and Sweet Chanelle were slow to begin.
Bella Porscha and Always Primed collided soon after the start. Lily Rose Jazz and Sweet Chanelle collided on the first turn. Bella Porscha, Always Primed and Baby Pechey collided on the first turn; severely checking Always Primed, Baby Pechey and Why Not Hutch; subsequently checking Shaun John and Sweet Chanelle. Shaun John and Sweet Chanelle collided on the home turn.
Baby Pechey underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a right hindleg torn nail injury. No stand down period was imposed. It was noted that the muzzle of Baby Pechey became dislodged during the running of the event.
