Steward's Report
Essential persons (both staff & participants) attending today, undertook successful health screenings, wore face-masks, observed social distance requirements and adhered to room density quotients that in-turn, permitted entry to the venue for exclusive race-day functions and operations.
Dr. Libby was slow to begin. Riverbank Jack and Rapid Voyage collided soon after the start. Riverbank Jack checked off Saint Arnaud on the first turn severely checking Riverbank Jack. Zeki checked off Sir Chappy on the first turn. Victory Indi contacted the running rail on the home turn checking Rapid Voyage. Dr. Libby checked off Rapid Voyage on the home turn. Sir Chappy turned it's head inwards and visibily eased entering the home straight. Victory Indi, Saint Arnaud and Rapid Voyage collided entering the home straight. Victory Indi checked off Saint Arnaud approaching the winning post.
Victory Indi underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported.
Sir Chappy underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a right wrist and right hind triangle muscle injury. A 21 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Mr. David Crawford, the representative, regarding the greyhound's racing manners entering the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69B (1), Sir Chappy was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr. Crawford pleaded guilty to the charge, Sir Chappy was found guilty and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69B(1) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
Zeki underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a right hind triangle muscle injury. A 10 day stand down period was imposed.
A post-race sample was taken from Zeki - the winner of the event.
