Steward's Report
Negasi Bale - Late scratching at 6.17am when Mrs Andrea Dailly reported the greyhound to have split webbing (GAR 23). A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards will require a veterinary certificate pursuant to GAR 20(3)(v) before any future nomination will be accepted.
A pre-race sample was taken from Mepunga Sparkle.
Rezzie's Choice was slow to begin.
Emergency, Mepunga Sparkle and Emani Bale collided on the first turn. Happy Hannah and Accused collided on the first turn checking Happy Hannah. Emani Bale and Happy Hannah collided approaching the second turn. Mepunga Sparkle veered outwards, turned its head to the outside and marred Accused on the turn out of the back straight. Emergency and Happy Hannah collided on the home turn. Emani Bale and Rezzie's Choice collided entering the home straight.
Mepunga Sparkle underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have an injury to the right monkey muscle. A 5 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Ms. Jess Lyons, the representative of Mepunga Sparkle regarding the greyhound’s racing manners on the turn out of the back straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(1), Mepunga Sparkle was charged with marring. Ms. Lyons pleaded guilty to the charge and Mepunga Sparkle was suspended for 28 days at The Meadows and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69(2) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
