Steward's Report
A pre–race sample was taken from Xenium Bale.
Drill Sergeant and Lovaz Bale were quick to begin. Millie Bale was slow to begin.
Drill Sergeant visibly eased approaching the winning post, underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was re-examined following race 7. Drill Sergeant was found to have a left monkey muscle injury. A 5 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to trainer Danny Cortese regarding the greyhound’s racing manners approaching the winning post. Acting under the provisions of GAR 125, Drill Sergeant was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr Cortese pleaded guilty to the charge, Drill Sergeant was found guilty and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 125, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.
A post-race sample was taken from Lovaz Bale - the winner of the event.
Stewards spoke to kennel attendant staff and reminded them of their reponsibilities in relation to maintaining the security of the kennel bays post-race.
