Steward's Report
Essential persons (both Staff & Participants) attending today, undertook successful health screenings, wore facemasks, observed social distance requirements, and adhered to room density quotients that in-turn, permitted entry to the venue for exclusive race-day functions and operations.
Evaded and Yield were slow to begin.
Mighty Connie turned its head inwards and visibly eased soon after the start, colliding with Shell City. Cocomelon and Yield collided soon after the start. Mighty Connie turned its head to the outside and collided with Rip Jazz approaching the 250m mark checking Cocomelon. Rip Jazz and Mrs. Tropicana collided at the 200m mark. Shell City checked off Evaded approaching the 150m mark. Mighty Connie, Rip Jazz and Jingles collided at the 150m mark. Cocomelon and Mighty Connie collided at the 100m mark. Mighty Connie checked off Jingles approaching the 50m mark.
Mighty Connie underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported. Trainer, Mr Patrick Furci declined to have the greyhound re-vetted.
A post-race sample was taken from Mighty Connie - unplaced in the event.
Stewards spoke to Mr Patrick Furci, the trainer of Mighty Connie regarding the greyhound’s racing manners soon after the start. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69A(1) Mighty Connie was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr Furci pleaded guilty to the charge, Mighty Connie was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Healesville and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69A (2) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
