Shaun John and Calabrese Gino were slow to begin. Lady Elegance and Boes Reward collided approaching the first turn, checking Lady Elegance which contacted the running rail and lost ground. Shaun John and Boes Reward collided on the first turn checking Shaun John. Got Girl and Shanghai Avatar collided on the first turn checking Shanghai Avatar.
Lady Elegance underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a right monkey muscle injury. A 5 day stand down period was imposed.
