Boes High Five was slow to begin.
Tibetan crossed in soon after the start checking Crowdza Rocking and Raquea's Dream. Nunniong Bear, Lainey Zapper and Smoking Syd collided soon after the start checking Lainey Zapper. Boes High Five, Zero and Tibetan collided at the 300m mark checking Zero and Tibetan; Boes High Five, crossed to the outside as a result. Nunniong Bear, Smoking Syd and Raquea's Dream collided approaching the 250m mark. Nunniong Bear and Smoking Syd collided several times from the 300m mark to the 250m mark causing Nunniong Bear to fall.
Nunniong Bear underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a spike wound to the right hind foot and bruising to the right shoulder. A 7 day stand down period was imposed.
