Steward's Report
The start time for this event was rescheduled to 1:38pm.
Mt. View Sassy and Luigi Bale were slow to begin. Manila Shine and Get Around Her collided approaching the first turn and on the first turn, severely checking both greyhounds and causing Luigi Bale to race wide. Lulu Osti lost ground on the first turn checking Mt. View Pearl. Lulu Osti, Mt. View Pearl and Luigi Bale collided in the home straight causing Luigi Bale to fall. Mt. View Pearl faltered approaching the winning post.
Lulu Osti underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported. Stewards spoke to trainer, Mr Michael Niele regarding the greyhounds racing manners on the first turn. After viewing all available video footage and taking into account the explanation of Mr.Niele, a warning was issued regarding the greyhound’s racing manners on the first turn.
Mt. View Pearl underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a left deltoid muscle injury. A 21 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to trainer, Mr Trevor Whitford regarding the greyhounds racing manners approaching the winning post. After viewing all available video footage and taking into account the injury sustained, Stewards took no further action.
Luigi Bale underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a left sesamoid injury. A 5 day stand down period was imposed.
A post-race sample was taken from Mt. View Sassy - the winner of the event.
