Steward's Report
Daph's Ascend underwent a veterinary examination after race 3 in the presence of kennel representative Korie-Lee Heinrich. Dr M. Bell examined the greyhound and subsequently reported that the greyhound was suitable to race.
Daph's Ascend was slow to begin. Matilda Hook, Nevilla Bale, Astro Boy and Carry On Angel collided soon after the start checking Nevilla Bale and Matilda Hook. Astro Boy brushed the running rail on the first turn and raced wide. Carry On Angel checked off Jay Bird on the second turn. Iago Bale faltered on the second turn and tailed off. Nevilla Bale and Daph's Ascend collided in the home straight.
Iago Bale was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to the right monkey muscle, a 21 day stand down period was imposed.
Astro Boy was vetted following the event and was revetted following Race 12. It was reported that the greyhound sustained injuries to the left shin and left wrist, a 10 day stand down period was imposed.
A post race sample was taken from Nevilla Bale, the winner of the event.
Handler Mr Josh Formosa was spoken to after he incorrectly re-kennelled his greyhound post-race. The relevant kennel staff were also spoken to with all parties reminded of their responsibility to check the kennel ticket every time a greyhound enters or leaves the kennel bays.
