Steward's Report
Due to Government Social Distancing Laws under COVID-19 and acting in accordance with GAR 51 (10), the Stewards have directed that the boxing process in Victoria will revert to and continue under the 4-wave model being 1 & 5 boxed first, followed by 3 & 7, followed by 2 & 6, followed by 4 & 8. Handlers are required to exit the area after boxing and maintain their 1.5m distance from other handlers and staff at all times.
All persons (both Staff & Participants) attending today, undertook successful health screenings and wore face-masks that in-turn, permitted entry to the venue for exclusive race-day functions and operations.
She's So Sassy was quick to begin. Jarick Bale, Ernie Prang and I'm A Lawyer were slow to begin. Kandinsky, Jackpot and Taiepa collided soon after the start. Prince Of Idol and Kandinsky collided several times on the first turn. Ernie Prang checked off Prince Of Idol on the first turn. Kandinsky and I'm A Lawyer collided on the first turn. Prince Of Idol, Kandinsky and I'm A Lawyer collided several times on the first turn. Ernie Prang shifted out, raced ungenerously and collided with Kandinsky approaching the second turn. Jackpot galloped on Taiepa on the third turn. I'm A Lawyer checked off Prince Of Idol approaching the home turn and collided with Ernie Prang. I'm A Lawyer checked off Ernie Prang on the home turn. Ernie Prang visibly eased in the home straight.
Ernie Prang was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained injuries to the left sesamoid, and both hamstrings, a 14 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Mr Ian Cockerell, the trainer of Ernie Prang regarding the greyhound’s racing manners in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69A(1) Ernie Prang was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr Cockerell pleaded guilty to the charge, Ernie Prang was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at The Meadows and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69A (2) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted
