Steward's Report

Due to Government Social Distancing Laws under COVID-19 and acting in accordance with GAR 51 (10), the Stewards have directed that the boxing process in Victoria will continue under the 4-wave model being 1 & 5 boxed first, followed by 3 & 7, followed by 2 & 6, followed by 4 & 8. Handlers are required to exit the area after boxing and maintain their 1.5m distance from other handlers and staff at all times.

All persons (both Staff & Participants) attending today, undertook successful health screenings and wore facemasks that in-turn, permitted entry to the venue for exclusive race-day functions and operations.

Side Hustle and Chain Breaker collided on the first turn. Devika Bale and Aston Master collided on the first turn. Side Hustle and Chain Breaker collided approaching the home turn severely checking both greyhounds. Chain Breaker marred the running of Side Hustle on the home turn. Side Hustle marred the running of Chain Breaker entering the home straight severely checking both greyhounds.

Side Hustle underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a laceration on the right metacarpal. A 14 day stand down period was imposed.

Stewards spoke to Mr. T. Boehmke, the trainer of Side Hustle regarding the greyhound’s racing manners on the home turn.  Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(1) Side Hustle was charged with marring.  Mr. Boehmke pleaded guilty to the charge, Side Hustle was found guilty and suspended for 12 months at Bendigo and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69(2) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.

Chain Breaker underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have right rear shin soreness. A 5 day stand down period was imposed.

Stewards spoke to Ms. L. Barnes, the trainer of Chain Breaker regarding the greyhound’s racing manners on the home turn.  Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(1) Chain Breaker was charged with marring.  Ms. Barnes pleaded guilty to the charge, Chain Breaker was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Bendigo and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69(2) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.

A post-race sample was taken from Aston Master - the winner of the event.
