Due to Government Social Distancing Laws under COVID-19 and acting in accordance with GAR 51 (10), the Stewards have directed that the boxing process in Victoria will revert to and continue under the 4-wave model being 1 & 5 boxed first, followed by 3 & 7, followed by 2 & 6, followed by 4 & 8.  Handlers are required to exit the area after boxing and maintain their 1.5m distance from other handlers and staff at all times.

All persons (both Staff & Participants) attending today, undertook successful health screenings and wore face-masks/covers that in-turn, permitted entry to the venue for exclusive race-day functions and operations.

Subsequent to the Steward's track inspection and after reviewing all relevant track readings throughout the day, stewards downgraded the track to "Slow" prior to the running of race 1.

Blue Gal was quick to begin.

Miss Ali, Yellowtail Bear and Affair Bit collided soon after the start.  Affair Bit and Broadway Benny collided on the first turn.  Affair Bit visibly eased entering the back straight, turned its head outwards severely checking Surella Bale and Broadway Benny.  Affair Bit and Broadway Benny collided on the home turn.

Affair Bit underwent a post-race veterinary examination and re-vetted following event 7. No apparent injury was reported. 

Stewards spoke to Mrs Heather Collins, the representative of Affair Bit regarding the greyhounds racing manners entering the back straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(A)(1) Affair Bit was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mrs Collins pleaded guilty to the charge, Affair Bit is suspended for 28 days at Sandown and must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.

Sticker Stinger and Steamy Jack were slow to begin.

Ovens Angler checked off Sticker Stinger soon after the start.  Ovens Angler and Steamy Jack collided approaching the first turn.  Rhonda Lily, Zipping Bates and Ovens Angler collided approaching the first turn.  Rhonda Lily and Ovens Angler collided on the first turn checking Ovens Angler.  Tyler Durden raced wide on the first turn.

Bees And Honey was quick to begin.

Love And Thunder and Capture Bart collided on the first turn, Love And Thunder fell as a result severely checking Parzival.  

Love And Thunder underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a right hamstring injury and sand burn to the right hind leg.  A 5 day stand down period was imposed.

Parzival underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported.

After taking into account updated penetrometer readings provided from tack staff, and race times in events 1-5, stewards upgraded the track form Slow to Good.

Black Opium was quick to begin. 

Kingfisher Rose, Winlock Thor, Who Told Stevie and Vesper Bale collided soon after the start.  Kingfisher Rose, Vesper Bale and Tiggerlong Tonk collided on the first turn.  Kingfisher Rose and Vesper Bale collided on the first turn.  Winlock Thor and Vesper Bale collided in the back straight checking Winlock Thor.  

Route Sixty Six was slow to begin.

Shanlyn Deano, Lights Action and Tough Tears collided soon after the start.  Lights Action, Tough Tears and Captain Jake collided approaching the first turn.  Captain Jake checked off Tough Tears approaching the first turn, Captain Jake fell checking Route Sixty Six as a result.  Shanlyn Deano checked off Tough Tears on the home turn checking Ouzo.  

Captain Jake underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a spike wound to the right front foot.  A 10 day stand down period was imposed. 

Keenando - Late scratching at 1:58pm on the advice of the On-Track Veterinarian (GAR 37) due to a right adductor injury. A 14 day stand down period was imposed. 

Road To Success - Late scratching at 5.25pm on the advice of the On-Track Veterinarian (GAR 37) due to diarrhoea and an elevated temperature. A 3 day stand down period was imposed.

Silver Smarty was slow to begin.

Avalanche, With Confidence and Silver Smarty collided soon after the start checking With Confidence.  Sisco Ride, Avalanche and Silver Smarty collided on the first turn checking Avalanche which stumbled.  Perfect Marshall and Keeper Of Keys collided on the second turn.  Sisco Ride and Avalanche collided entering the back straight.  Silver Smarty, Perfect Marshall and Keeper Of Keys collided on the third turn checking Silver Smarty.  Perfect Marshall and Keeper Of Keys collided several times approaching the home turn and on the home turn.  

Aston Lopez was quick to begin.  Rock Me David was slow to begin.

Lola Lovelace and Tiggerlong Ginga collided soon after the start.  Tiggerlong Ginga and Rock Me David collided approaching the first turn.  Kudos Bale and Rock Me David collided on the first turn, Kudos Bale brushed the running rail as a result.
