Steward's Report
Due to Government Social Distancing Laws under COVID-19 and acting in accordance with GAR 51 (10), the Stewards have directed that the boxing process in Victoria will revert to and continue under the 4-wave model being 1 & 5 boxed first, followed by 3 & 7, followed by 2 & 6, followed by 4 & 8. Handlers are required to exit the area after boxing and maintain their 1.5m distance from other handlers and staff at all times.
All persons (both Staff & Participants) attending today, undertook successful health screenings and wore face-masks/covers that in-turn, permitted entry to the venue for exclusive race-day functions and operations.
Track Curator Mr. M. Pell advised that the track was lightly harrowed on 19th July 2020.
Rocket Ronni, Hillbilly Storm and Crackerjack Jaws collided soon after the start. We Will Prevail and Tinker Caylee collided soon after the start. Tinker Caylee turned outwards and visibly eased approaching the first turn severely checking We Will Prevail, Crackerjack Jaws and Light Show and causing Light Show to Fall. Ronnie Rocket and Galway Lights collided on the home turn and again entering the home straight. Hillbilly Storm and Midnight Pompeii collided entering the home straight. Hillbilly Storm and Tinker Caylee collided several times in the home straight.
Light Show underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a mild neck muscle injury and a spike wound to the right fore paw lateral digit. A 5 day stand down period was imposed.
Tinker Caylee underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a left back muscle injury. A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to trainer Mr. R. Fisher, regarding the greyhounds racing manners approaching the first turn. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(B)(1), Tinker Caylee was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr. Fisher pleaded guilty to the charge, Tinker Caylee must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
A post-race sample was taken from Rocket Ronnie, winner of the event.
