Steward's Report
The start of the event was delayed by approximately 1 minute due to operational issues.
Legend Rose and Bernmar Tiny were slow to begin.
You Sunshine and Awesome Assett collided soon after the start. Hook Along Book and Staggermite collided at the 250m mark checking Staggermite, Hook Along Book and Hi Calling. You Sunshine checked off Bernmar Tiny at the 250m mark. Hi Calling and Staggermite collided several times at the 175m mark checking Staggermite. Hi Calling shifted out, visibly eased and turned its head at the 150m mark, checking Staggermite. Hook Along Book and Hi Calling collided at the 100m mark.
High Calling underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported. Trainer Mr D. Baker declined the option to have the greyhound re-vetted .
Stewards spoke to Mr D. Baker, the trainer of High Calling regarding the greyhounds racing manners at the 150m mark. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(A)(1) Hi Calling was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr Baker pleaded guilty to the charge, Hi Calling is suspended for 28 days at Healesville and must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
Stewards spoke to Lure Driver, Mr L. Gough regarding the lure distance from the leading greyhound and reminded him to drive within the distance prescribed by GRV. This matter will be referred to the relevant manager.
