An out of competition sample was taken from Bugsy Magic on 27 August 2019 pursuant to GAR 79A.
Piper's Unicorn was quick to begin.
Bugsy Magic was slow to begin.
David's Way and No Standing collided soon after the start. Longbow, David's Way and No Standing collided on the first turn. Piper’s Unicorn visibly eased on the first turn. Longbow and David's Way collided several times approaching the home turn. Piper's Unicorn and Stan' Hope collided approaching the home turn. No Standing and Bugsy Magic collided on the home turn. Piper's Unicorn and Stan's Hope collided in the home straight. Longbow and Stan's Hope collided in the home straight. Piper's Unicorn visibly eased several times in the home straight.
Piper's Unicorn underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have left shin soreness. A 7 day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr. T. Boehmke, the trainer of Piper's Unicorn regarding the greyhounds racing manners in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(A)(1) Piper's Unicorn was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr. Boehmke pleaded guilty to the charge. Piper's Unicorn is suspended for 28 days at Bendigo and must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
