Steward's Report
Tough Like Atom was quick to begin. Wild Brutality, Jaimandy Lee, Slingshot Prince and Little Westie were slow to begin.
Jaimandy Lee and Slingshot Prince collided approaching the first turn checking Jaimandy Lee. Jaimandy Lee and Little Westie collided on the first turn checking Jaimandy Lee. Gamboa and Slingshot Prince collided approaching the home turn checking Slingshot Prince. Gamboa raced wide on the home turn. Little Westie visibly eased and pulled up in the home straight.
A post-race sample was taken from Speaking Spanish - the winner of the event.
Little Westie underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was re-examined following race 7. Little Westie was found to have injuries to the left groin and right hind calf muscles. A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Mr D. Petersen the trainer, regarding the greyhounds racing manners in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(B)(1), Little Westie was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr Petersen pleaded guilty to the charge, Little Westie must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
