Kimani – New declared weight of 26.7kgs, last raced at 25.6kgs.
A pre-race sample was taken from Zipping Norton.
Zipping Norton and Wears Woodleigh collided soon after the start. Wears Woodleigh checked off Yeller Bale approaching the first turn checking Wears Woodleigh and I'm The Poppet. Kimani and Okay Kirsty collided on the first turn. Yeller Bale checked off Okay Kirsty approaching the second turn. Kimani turned its head and marred Okay Kirsty approaching the second turn checking both greyhounds. Wears Woodleigh and Okay Kirsty collided entering the back straight. I'm The Poppet raced wide in the back straight. Wears Woodleigh and Dyna Artist collided approaching the third turn checking Dyna Artist.
Kimani underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a right triangle injury. A 14 day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mrs J. Imlach, the trainer of Kimani regarding the greyhounds racing manners approaching the second turn. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(1) Kimani was charged with marring. Mrs Imlach pleaded guilty to the charge, Kimani is suspended for 28 days at Sandown and must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
