Steward's Report
Rodrigo Bale – Late scratching at 8:51am when Mr Correy Grenfell reported the greyhound to have a hock injury (GAR 23). A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards will require a veterinary certificate before any future nomination will be accepted.
Mepunga Wonder, Stirling Lights and Buddy Goes Bang were quick to begin.
Parzival and Zita collided soon after the start. Yeran checked off Mod Squad soon after the start. Mod Squad checked off Mepunga Wonder approaching the first turn causing Mod Squad and Zita to collide. Zita and Buddy Goes Bang collided on the first turn. Mepunga Wonder turned its head outwards and marred the running of Stirling Lights approaching the second turn, severely checking Stirling Lights which stumbled as a result. Zita and Buddy Goes Bang collided entering the back straight.
Stirling Lights underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a neck injury and abrasions to the left hind paw. A 3 day stand down period was imposed.
Mepunga Wonder underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a laceration to the right foreleg dew claw. A 3 day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr J Britton, the trainer of Mepunga Wonder regarding the greyhounds racing manners approaching the second turn. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(1) Mepunga Wonder was charged with marring. Mr Britton pleaded guilty to the charge, Mepunga Wonder is suspended for 28 days at Sandown and must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
