Steward's Report

In accordance with the GRV Hot Weather Policy, this meeting was deemed 'Heat Affected'.  At the commencement of kennelling, the outside temperature was 27.2 degrees and the kennel temperature was 17.1 degrees.

Shooters Nova was very slow to begin (8L). Grand Fletch and Roseira collided approaching the first turn. Roseira faltered approaching the first turn pulled up, and collided with Shooters Nova which pulled up. Starchie eased on the first turn. Grand Fletch and Barellan Rae collided approaching the home turn checking Grand Fletch.

Roseira underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a right hock fracture. A 90 day stand down period was imposed.

Shooters Nova underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a left fore toe injury and left hind toe injury. A 14 day stand down period was imposed.

Starchie underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was re-examined following race 4. Starchie was found to have a left hind toe injury . A 7 day stand down period was imposed.

Stewards spoke to Ms. P. Boots, the trainer of Shooters Nova and issued a warning regarding the greyhounds racing manners approaching the first turn.

Stewards spoke to Mr. C. Callaghan, the trainer of Starchie regarding its performance on the first turn. Stewards deemed the performance unsatisfactory and acting in accordance with GAR 71(2), order that Starchie be subject to the production of a veterinary certificate certifying that it is not suffering from an injury or condition before being eligible to compete further in or be nominated for any event. 

Following this event Stewards walked the track in the area where Roseira faltered and pulled up and deemed the track satisfactory for racing.
