Iago Bale and Scatterbox were quick to begin. Cousin Niall and Aston Valetta collided on the first turn, checking Aston Valetta. Rockstar Gareth faltered on the home turn; checking Aston Valetta and severely checking Nessa's Zara.
Rockstar Gareth underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a femur fracture. Rockstar Gareth was humanely euthanased.
Nessa's Zara underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have right foreleg monkey muscle and right hindleg quadriceps injuries. A 14 day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards walked the track and deemed it safe for racing.
