El Grand Knocka, What Price and Why Not Paps collided on the first turn checking What Price. Romeo Lad and Sweet Impala collided on the first turn. Sweet Impala eased and collided with Cornhill Rebel entering the home straight checking Sweet Impala.
Sweet Impala underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have injuries to the left wrist and right shoulder, a 7 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to trainer Mr. J. Borg, regarding the greyhounds racing manners in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(B)(1), Sweet Impala was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr. Borg pleaded guilty to the charge, Sweet Impala must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
Stewards spoke to Mr. J. Borg, the trainer of Sweet Impala and acting under GAR 75 (1) Stewards ordered Mr. Borg to report as soon as practicable anything that may have affected the running of Sweet Impala in the event which was not noted by Stewards during or immediately after the event.
A post-race sample was taken from Shanlyn Rose, winner of the event.
