Steward's Report
A pre-race sample was taken from Paz.
Spolly Mook was quick to begin. Wanamingo and Brilliant Jet were slow to begin. Barely Breaking crossed in on the first turn checking Get on Phil. Get On Phil and Wanamingo collided on the first turn. Spolly Mook was checked off Paz on the first turn checking Hook Along Patch. Spolly Mook and Hook Along Patch collided approaching the home turn checking Spolly Mook and Get On Phil. Paz visibly eased approaching the home turn. Barely Breaking was checked off Paz on the home turn. Paz visibly eased and turned its head approaching the winning post and collided with Brilliant Jet.
Spolly Mook underwent a post race veterinary examination and was found to have an injured left monkey muscle. A 10 day stand down period was imposed.
Paz underwent a post race veterinary examination and no apparent injury was reported.
Stewards spoke to Ms. J. Gill the trainer of Paz regarding the greyhound's racing manners approaching the home turn and approaching the winning post. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(A)(1) Paz was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Ms. Gill pleaded guilty to the charge, Paz is suspended for 3 months at all tracks and must perform a satisfactory trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(b) before any future nomination will be accepted.
