Steward's Report
Chasing Lights was quick to begin. Nicholas Rose, Dr. Woodie and Rupert's Boy were slow to begin. Nicholas Rose and Lyndawn's Rose collided on the first turn. Lyndawn's Rose galloped on Scarlatto on the first turn. Chasing Lights and Nicholas Rose collided approaching the home turn. Dr. Woodie was checked off Rupert's Boy on the home turn and raced wide. Chasing Lights raced wide on the home turn. Why Not Colby tired over the concluding stages of the event.
Following the event Why Not Colby displayed signs of Post Exercise Distress Syndrome (PEDS). As a result the greyhound underwent a veterinary examination and was found to be displaying clinical signs of Ataxia. A 7 day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr. G. Carter the trainer of Why Not Colby. After hearing submissions, the Stewards acted in accordance with GAR 74 and Why Not Colby must perform a satisfactory trial (all tracks) and receive a veterinary clearance before any future nomination will be accepted.
