Steward's Report

A pre-race sample was taken from Spritely Too.

Miss Bea lost ground soon after the start and tailed off as a result. Spritely Too and Madame Duggie collided on the first turn.

Miss Bea underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a back muscle injury. A 60 day stand down period was imposed.

Meeting Comments:

Indoctrinated–Field of 4, Distance 390m, Weight 33.7kgs, Box 1, Placed 4th, Time Run 26:60 Not Cleared, Comment: Greyhound was severely checked and not cleared.

Indoctrinated underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported.

General - An inquiry was opened into the conduct of licensed person Mr Simon Humpries in the vicinity of the kennelling area following the race-meeting.  Evidence was taken from GRV Investigative Steward Mr Kirk Branton and Mr Humpries before the inquiry was adjourned to further consider the evidence.

GRV Stewards concluded an inquiry into an incident that occurred in the vicinity of the kennelling area during the Shepparton greyhound racing meeting on Thursday 19 September, 2019.  Evidence was taken from GRV Investigative Steward Mr Kirk Branton and Registered Trainer Mr Simon Humphries. After considering all the evidence, the Stewards issued a charge against Mr Humphries under GAR 86 (q). The particulars being that at the Shepparton Greyhound Racing Club on 19 September 2019, Mr Humphries, being a registered person with GRV, has conducted himself in a manner which was detrimental and prejudicial to the interests and image of greyhound racing. This conduct included using inappropriate language towards a GRV official. Mr. Humphries pleaded guilty to the charge. After considering submissions from Mr Humphries, Stewards issued a fine of $500, which was wholly suspended for 2 years, pending no further conduct related issues in that time. In determining penalty, Stewards took into consideration: 

•Mr. Humphries’ submissions regarding his personal circumstances

•The circumstances of the offence

•Mr Humphries guilty plea and good record for conduct related matters

•Specific and general deterrence 

•The significance of the image of greyhound racing to GRV 

•Denunciation and precedents of a similar nature
