Steward's Report
Dusty's Charlie completed a satisfactory trial at Healesville on Friday 16 August 2019 following a suspension under GAR 69(B)(1) and was cleared to take its place in the final today.
Out of competition samples were taken from Panhandle Slim (14 Aug 2019), Hollow Words (14 Aug 2019), Myrniong And All (15 Aug 2019), Hot Chevy (15 Aug 2019), Peter Galo (13 Aug 2019), Dusty's Charlie (13 Aug 2019), Certification (15 Aug 2019), Fantastic Axel (13 Aug 2019), Time To Talk - not required (14 Aug 2019) and Nervous An Weird - not required (14 Aug 2019) pursuant to GAR 79A.
Panhandle Slim and Hollow Words were slow to begin.
Peter Galo, Dusty's Charlie and Certification collided soon after the start. Hollow Words and Myrniong And All collided several times approaching the 300m mark. Dusty's Charlie and Fantastic Axel collided approaching the 300m mark checking Fantastic Axel. Dusty's Charlie checked off Peter Galo at the 250m mark. Hollow Words and Fantastic Axel collided several times from the 150m mark to the 100m mark. Hot Chevy checked off Panhandle Slim at the 100m mark.
Samples were taken from Placegetters - Peter Galo (1st) in a new track record of 18.651secs, Certification (2nd) and Myrniong And All (3rd).
Stewards spoke to Trainer Mr Gregory Stella (QLD), the trainer of the greyhound Certification regarding the significant betting activities on Certification placed on the Fixed Odds market for this race. Stewards noted the greyhound was backed from $31.00 into $7.00 in the minutes leading into the start of this event. Mr Stella advised Stewards in his opinion the greyhound had been underestimated regarding its ability and blood line and believed that the punters in Queensland would have supported the greyhound given the greyhound's form in that State. Mr Stella also advised that he wagered on the greyhound earlier in the week and was offered a market price of $28.00. Stewards noted Mr Stella's explanation.
