Steward's Report
Mepunga Frankie, Keeper Of Keys, Gwydion and Lonnie Mach collided on the first turn checking Gwydion. Keeper Of Keys and Lonnie Mach collided entering the front straight checking Lonnie Mach, Spokane Flick and severely checking Keeper Of Keys. Rock It Fernando turned its head outwards approaching the third turn and collided with Mepunga Frankie severely checking both greyhounds. Gwydion and Maximum Brew collided on the home turn.
Rock It Fernando underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a right deltoid injury, a 7 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to the trainer Mr M. Briganti, regarding the greyhounds racing manners approaching the third turn. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(B)(1), Rock It Fernando was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr Briganti pleaded guilty to the charge, Rock It Fernando must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
Gwydion underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a laceration to the left hind foot. A 14 day stand down period was imposed.
A post-race sample was taken from Steinbrenner - winner of the event.
