Stevie Jane was a late scratching by order of stewards at 1:24pm following an examination prior to the race by On Track Veterinarian Dr. Sui. Dr Sui reported that Stevie Jane appeared to be lame in the left front leg and was showing signs of distress. Stewards, in conjunction with Dr Sui ordered the withdrawal of the greyhound at 1:24pm. 

Subsequent to the event Stevie Jane was not showing signs of injury or distress, and upon further examination Dr Sui reported that the greyhound did not appear to be injured, and no stand down period was imposed.

Stewards spoke to the trainer of Stevie Jane, Mr P. Mathieson, and ordered the greyhound to perform a satisfactory trial (GAR 71) before any future nomination is accepted.

Stewards also requested Mr Mathieson report to stewards as soon as practicable anything that may have bearing on the future running of the greyhound in accordance with GAR 75(2).

A pre-race sample was taken from Star Reiko.

Galloping Eddie and Zipping Clifford were slow to begin.

Zipping Clifford and Star Reiko collided approaching the first turn checking Star Reiko.  Talanjee Chief and Beaut Deeds collided approaching the first turn checking Talanjee Chief and Galloping Eddie.  Star Reiko checked off Galloping Eddie approaching the first turn.  Talanjee Chief and Galloping Eddie collided several times approaching the second turn and again on the second turn checking Talanjee Chief.  Zipping Clifford and Beaut Deeds collided approaching the home turn and again on the home turn checking Beaut Deed and Star Reiko.

Talanjee Chief underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have left hind split webbing and a spike wound to the left lateral carpal. A 14 day stand down period was imposed.

Galloping Eddie underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was re-examined following race 7. Galloping Eddie was found to have a left pencil and groin injuries. A 14 day stand down period was imposed.
