Acting on a confirmed phone call to trainer Mr Neil Mason, stewards directed that Stinging Red  was a late scratching at 11:11AM due to non-arrival, by reason of transport breakdown (GAR 31). A 28-day stand down period was imposed and Mr Mason was fined the sum of $100; both penalties will be lifted if and when Mr Mason provides sufficient evidence to Stewards of his mechanical difficulties.

Pink Tiara and Firework Joey were slow to begin.

Stewards spoke to Mr Calvin Russell, the kennel representative for Still Quick, regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Still Quick last raced on 14 March 2018. Mr Russell stated that the greyhound had not raced due to illness.

Urzael Harbinger, Spring Silver, Tinker Ben and Manila Mist were slow to begin.

Stewards spoke to Ms Maria Barber, the trainer of Chloe Crumpet, regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Chloe Crumpet last raced on 30 April 2018. Ms Barber stated that the greyhound had been seasonal. Ms Barber also declared a new weight of 29.3kg for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Chloe Crumpet last raced at 27.8kg.

Stewards spoke to Mr Kenneth Howat, the trainer of Holiday Dancer, regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Holiday Dancer last raced on 27 May 2018. Mr Howat stated that the greyhound had not been able to gain a start in the races it had been nominated for since that date.

Holiday Dancer, Magic Spur, Food Fighter and Thanks Phil collided soon after the start. Holiday Dancer and Magic Spur collided several times from the 300m mark to the 250m mark, severely checking both greyhounds.

Holiday Dancer was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained soreness in the right shin and an injury to the left front toes. A ten-day stand down period was imposed.

Magic Spur was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to the left long head triceps (monkey) muscle. A 14-day stand down period was imposed.

Iona Roby was slow to begin.

Magical Ruby, Wild Bandit and Iona Roby collided soon after the start, checking Magical Ruby, Wild Bandit, Iona Roby and Superior Briz. Wild Bandit and Delta's Tiara collided several times from the 150m mark to approaching the winning post, checking both greyhounds.

Stewards spoken to the trainer Mr Tougher of greyhound Total Diva regarding the greyhounds improvement perfromance, Mr Tougher believed that the greyhound had matured due to the coursing that it had been doing and the small field today.

MEETING COMMENTS

Satisfactory Trial Results (GAR 77A) - Stewards spoke to Mr Jimmy Holt, the trainer of Jack Skywalker, regarding the length of time since the greyhound last raced. Jack Skywalker last raced on 18 January 2018. Mr Holt stated that the greyhound had undergone a change of kennels. Pursuant to GAR 77A, Jack Skywalker trialled over the 300m from box eight, weight 34.9kg, the greyhound was placed secondin a field of four. The time of the trial was 17.18, the greyhound was beaten by a margin of 1.5L. Jack Skywalker was cleared.
