Steward's Report

Close Enough – Not raced for in excess of three months and is returning to racing from a stress fracture to the right radius bone.

Doran's Call and Dyna Yella were quick to begin.  Jasper Beardly, Why Not Archie, I'm Electric and Pyrenees Inferno collided approaching the first turn, checking Why Not Archie.  Dyna Yella checked off Close Enough on the first turn, checking I'm Electric and Why Not Archie; severely checking Jasper Beardly.  I'm Electric and Why Not Archie collided approaching the home turn, checking I'm Electric.  I'm Electric and Why Not Archie collided approaching the home turn, checking I'm Electric.  Dyna Yella and Pyrenees Inferno collided on the home turn.  Doran's Call and Close Enough collided approaching the winning post.

Jasper Beardly underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a left hindleg triangle injury.  A five stand down period was imposed.

Meeting Comments:

The following Greyhounds performed a Stewards Satisfactory Trial – The trial took place over 410m with two required to trial. The winning time of trial was 23:891.

Yaritza Allen – Performed a Stewards Satisfactory trial as the greyhound was stood down from racing at Warrnambool for failing to chase by reason of injury.  Weighing 26.7 kgs and beaten by 2 lengths.  Yaritza Allen has been cleared to race at all tracks. 

Kraken Johnny – Performed a Stewards Satisfactory trial as the greyhound was stood down from racing at Horsham for  an unsatisfactory performance. Weighing 28.2 kgs and beaten by 3.25 lengths.  Kraken Johnny has been not cleared to race as the greyhound failed to pursue the lure with due committment in the home straight.

Supplementary Report 

Horsham Race 2 Crymelon Kennels (0-1 WIN) 410m - Tuesday 19 March 2019 

Trainer, Mr Gary Selkrig was questioned regarding the scratching of Atarah in this event, which was scratched via the hot weather policy.  Atarah was presented at the Cranbourne meeting on Wednesday, 20 March 2019 where an injury was confirmed.  Atarah has been stood down from racing for a period of five days.  After considering all the evidence and relevant factors Mr Selkrig was issued a warning for failing to scratch Atarah by reason of injury.  Mr Selkrig was advised that a similar issue may incur more significant  action being taken.
