Steward's Report
In accordance with the GRV Hot Weather Policy, this meeting was deemed 'Heat Affected'. At the commencement of kennelling, the outside temperature was 30.4 degrees and the kennel temperature was 17.3 degrees.
Harley Merrett was quick to begin.
Chill Out Indy and Joao collided soon after the start checking Chill Out Indy. Golden Moon crossed to the outside on the first turn checking Joao. Chill Out Indy checked off Golden Moon on the home turn. Golden Moon and Chill Out Indy collided entering the home straight and several times in the home straight. Chill Out Indy faltered approaching the winning post.
Chill Out Indy underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have sustained a right fibula injury, right shoulder joint injury and left and right groin injuries. A 21 stand down period was imposed.
A post-race sample was taken from Harley Merrett, winner of the event.
