Steward's Report
Stewards suspended racing due to lighting and thunderstorm activity breaching the safety zone around the venue, in accordance to the lighting and thunderstorm procedure. All races were put back one race as a result.
In accordance with the GRV Hot Weather Policy, this event was deemed Heat Affected. The outside temperature when kennels opened at 5.10pm was 32 degrees. The kennel temperature was 19.6 degrees. The kennel temperature at close of kennels was 20.1 degrees.
Stewards walked the track after the heavy rain and deemed the track satifactory for racing.
Prior to the running of the event the outside temperature was 20.0 degrees. Stewards no longer deemed this event Heat Affected.
The Club Veterinary Surgeon examined Grand Marina and no illness was detected. The greyhound was a late scratching at 6.07pm due to weight variation (GAR 39). A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Trainer Mr M. Tharle was fined the sum of $100.
Stewards spoke to Mr Davide Fasoli, the trainer of Whodat Dare regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Whodat Dare last raced on 12 August 2019. Mr Fasoli stated that the greyhound suffered a ligament injury to its right hock.
Mr S. Spoljaric was fined the sum of $50 for failing to ensure the registration papers/registration card were produced for the greyhound Chase 'Em Spolly pursuant to GAR 33.
Due to kennel number 4 been deemed damaged, greyhound Whodat Dare was place in kennel number 97.
Dark Stealth and Chase 'Em Spolly were slow to begin. Banjo Plato was very slow to begin (2 lengths).
Dark Stealth and Go Lucy Go collided soon after the start checking Dark Stealth. Busy Bella and Smurf collided soon after the start checking Go Lucy Go and Smurf. Go Lucy Go and Smurf collided approaching the first turn checking Go Lucy Go and severely checking Smurf. Smurf and Banjo Plato collided several times from approaching the home turn through to the home turn.
A post-race sample was taken from Busy Bella - winner of the event.
