Steward's Report
This meeting is deemed Hot Weather Affected. At the close of kennelling the outside temperature was 25.4 degrees and the kennel temperature was 17.8 degrees.
Crying Paw was quick to begin. Twilight Connie, Gentleman Jock and If You Like were slow to begin. Special Black and Belle's On Boost collided soon after the start. Twilight Connie and Muza's Gift collided approaching the first turn checking Twilight Connie which contacted the running rail, faltered and failed to finish as a result. Crying Paw eased approaching the first turn checking Special Black and If You Like. Nana Denise and Crying Paw collided approaching the home turn checking Nana Denise. Nana Denise and Muza's Gift collided approaching the home turn checking Muza's Gift and Special Black. If You Like and Crying Paw collided on the home turn. Belle's On Boost raced wide entering the home straight. Nana Denise raced wide in the home straight.
Twilight Connie was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a fractured left wrist. A stand down period of 90 days was imposed.
Crying Paw was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.
Stewards spoke to Mr. R. Brodtman, the trainer of the greyhound Crying Paw regarding the greyhounds racing manners approaching the first turn. Acting under GAR 69(A)(1) stewards charged Crying Paw with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr. Brodtman pleaded guilty to the charge, Crying Paw was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Bendigo and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
Stewards spoke to trainer Mr R.Brodtman and remindered him of his responsibilites when checking the clearance the leave the track board pursuant to GAR 42(2).
