Steward's Report
Reid Star was a late scratching at 7.00PM yesterday (Aug 18 2018) due to illness (GAR 23). A ten-day stand down period was imposed. Stewards will require a veterinary certificate before any future nomination will be accepted.
Stewards spoke to Mr Benjamin Divirgilio, the trainer of Gentle Giant, regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Gentle Giant last raced on 10 April 2018. Mr Divirgilio stated that the greyhound was resuming from a left calf injury.
Buck The Jockey, Gentle Giant and Surf In Vane were slow to begin.
Gentle Giant crossed to the outside soon after the start and collided with Surf In Vane. Buck The Jockey and Striker Vardy collided approaching the 300m mark. Dee Dee One and Pure Vengeance raced tightly and collided several times from approaching the 250m mark to approaching the 150m mark, checking Pure Vengeance. Surf In Vane checked off Pure Vengeance at the 150m mark. Gentle Giant crossed to the inside at the 50m mark.
