Ginger Road and Nicky Jo collided approaching the first turn.  Avatar Vixen crossed to the rail approaching the home turn, checking No Secrets, Zipping Lyric, Ginger Road and Nicky Jo; causing Thomeli Boy and Avatar Vixen to fall.  No Secrets and Zipping Lyric collided entering the home straight.

Thomeli Boy was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained abrasions to the left hock, a three day stand down period was imposed.

Avatar Vixen was vetted following the event.  It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.

Gunmetal Liam was slow to begin.  Knocka Feller crossed to the inside soon after the start, checking Iceni Crusader, Lainey's Fortune and Invictus Rapid.  Destini Agitator, Zipping Amber and Wanna Allen collided approaching the first turn, checking Zipping Amber and Destini Agitator.  Lainey's Fortune, Iceni Crusader and Gunmetal Liam raced wide entering the home straight.

The incorrect numbers were initially displayed on the semaphore board, before being corrected and all clear being given.

Onions O'Reilly and Kinmoss Brave collided soon after the start, checking Onions O'Reilly.  Thomeli Skip, Kinmoss Brave and Aston Lagonda collided on the first turn, checking Kinmoss Brave and Aston Lagonda.  Kinmoss Brave crossed to the outisde approaching the home turn, causing Aston Lagonda to race wide and Kinmoss Brave to lose ground.  Kinmoss Brave checked off Aston Lagonda approaching the home turn.

Onions O'Reilly was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained a spike wound to the right hindleg and displayed signs of diaphragmatic flutter (thumps).  No stand down period was imposed.

Due to ongoing issues with semaphore board, it displayed as race seven, not race eight.

Rave On was quick to begin.  Handpass and Telefork were slow to begin.  Kraken Pace checked off Keely Run approaching the first turn.  Dead Eye Dickson raced wide approaching the first turn.  Kraken Pace and Keely Run collided approaching the home turn, checking Kraken Pace.  Rave On and Keely Run collided in the home straight, checking Keely Run.

Pyrenees Inferno was quick to begin.  Charlie Mac was slow to begin.  Charlie Mac and Five Times Table collided soon after the start.  All About Now and Five Times Table collided approaching the first turn.  Charlie Mac and Percy's Curse collided on the first turn, checking Percy's Curse.  Ninety Proof, Kraken Forest, All About Now and Five Times Table collided approaching the home turn, checking All About Now and Five Times Table.

Brake Drum and Uni Allen were quick to begin.  Carson County, Iceni Skye and Ready And Armed were slow to begin.  Teflon Toby crossed to the rail on the first turn, checking Uni Allen.  Ready And Armed and Wise Lewis raced wide on the home turn.  Teflon Toby and Uni Allen collided entering the home straight.

Clavash was a late scratching at 2:12 pm on the advice of the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon, due to a right foreleg chest muscle injury.  A seven day stand down period was imposed.

Mr Gary Webb, trainer of Flying Apollo, declared a new weight of 29.2 kgs for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2).  Flying Apollo last raced at 28.0 kgs.

A pre-race sample was unable to be obtained from Flying Apollo, a post-race sample was subsequently taken.

Broulee Miss was slow to begin.  Just Banji checked off Billy Bart approaching the first turn.  Destini Cheetah checked off Just Banji on the first turn.  Broulee Miss and Just Banji collided approaching the home turn.

Meeting Comments:

Adjourned Enquiry Geelong – Friday, 10 August 2018 – Race 1:

Stewards re-opened an enquiry regarding trainer, Mr Lindsay Morshead, leaving the course without permission and with regards to the racing manners of Chachi Arcola approaching the home turn in race one at Geelong on Friday, 10 August 2018.

Stewards spoke to Mr Lindsay Morshead, the trainer of the greyhound Chachi Arcola regarding the greyhounds racing manners approaching the home turn.  Chachi Arcola was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained left hindleg calf and right hindleg thigh muscle injuries, a 10 day stand down period was imposed.  Acting under GAR 69(B)(1), the Stewards charged Chachi Arcola with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury).  Mr Morshead pleaded guilty to the charge, Chachi Arcola was found guilty and Stewards directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a), before any future nomination will be accepted.

In taking evidence, Stewards accepted the explanation of Mr Morshead as to his reason for the leaving the course.
