Steward's Report
In accordance with the GRV Hot Weather Policy, this meeting was deemed 'Heat Affected'. At the commencement of kennelling, the outside temperature was 37.0 degrees and the kennel temperature was 19.0 degrees.
When the greyhounds were retrieved for this event the kennel temperature was 19.0 degrees.
Stewards spoke to Mr S. White after the greyhound Elfstar was placed in the incorrect kennel during the kennelling process. Mr White was issued with a warning and reminded when kennelling he ensures greyhounds are kennelled in accordance with kennel procedure.
Stewards spoke to kennel attendant, Ms W. Songsin after the greyhound Elfstar was placed in the incorrect kennel during the kennelling process. Ms Songsin was issued with a warning and asked to ensure that all greyhounds are correctly kennelled in future. This matter was referred to the Club Manager for further consideration.
Friday Frothies and Zipping Buffy were slow to begin.
Dex's Affair and Libby's Dream collided soon after the start. Dr. Cadenza checked off Dex's Affair approaching the first turn. Zipping Buffy checked off Mahi Indian approaching the first turn. Dex's Affair and Zambora Andy collided entering the back straight and again on the third turn checking Zambora Andy and Mahi Indian, causing Mahi Indian to brush the running rail. Zipping Buffy and Friday Frothies collided approaching the home turn checking Friday Frothies. Mahi Indian and Zipping Buffy collided several times in the home straight.
Friday Frothies was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an abrasion to the left fore and hind feet and a spike wound to the left hind foot, a 5 day stand down period was imposed.
A post-race sample was taken from Libby's Dream - winner of the event.
