In accordance with the GRV Hot Weather Policy, today's meeting was declared Hot Weather Affected. At the commencement of kennelling the outside temperature was 24.2 degrees and the inside kennel temperature was 16.8 degrees.

The outside temperature at race start time was 25.5 degrees and the inside kennel temperature when the greyhounds were retrieved was 16.9 degrees.

An Out of Competition Sample was taken from Gazza's Pick, engaged in this event, on Thursday 21st February 2019 pursuant to GAR 79A.

Superior Kris and Gazza's Pick were slow to begin.

Breakaway Bandit and No Problem John collided soon after the start. Gazza's Pick and Braemar Keelie collided at the 250m mark and again at the 200m mark. Breakaway Bandit and No Problem John collided at the 200m mark. Superior Kris and Gazza's Pick collided at the 150m mark. Superior Kris and No Problem John collided at the 50m mark.

An Out of Competition Sample was taken from Steel Magnolia, engaged in this event, on Thursday 21st February 2019 pursuant to GAR 79A.

An Out of Competition Sample was taken from Hardaway George, engaged in this event, on Thursday 21st February 2019 pursuant to GAR 79A.

Steel Magnolia was slow to begin.

Super Suzie Que and Hardaway George collided at the 200m mark. Steel Magnolia and Hardaway George collided at the 75m mark. 

Stewards issued a warning to Mr G. Edwards, the trainer of Hardaway George, regarding the greyhound’s racing manners at the 150m mark.

Crash Landing was slow to begin.

Matilda Mikado and Hungry Grub collided at the 250m mark and again at the 225m mark.

The numbers 2-4-1-4 were semaphored incorrectly and were subsequently changed to 2-5-1-4 before the All Clear was given.

Stewards spoke to licensed Attendant, Ms Michelle Niele, regarding her difficulty in boxing Crash Landing which delayed the start . Stewards took no action after Ms Niele gave an undertaking that Crash Landing will be boxed by Mr Michael Niele in future events.

The outside temperature at race start time was 27.8 degrees and the inside kennel temperature when the greyhounds were retrieved was 17.1 degrees.

Stewards spoke to Mr S. Waycott, the trainer of Allanon, regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Allanon last raced on the 12th October 2018. Mr Waycott stated that the greyhound was resuming racing from a spell.

Gin Lee's Joe was slow to begin.

Vineyard and Gin Lee's Joe collided soon after the start checking Zipping Ester. Berry Bound checked off Imperial Jack soon after the start checking Underworld Rama and severely checking Blonde Bella. Gin Lee's Joe, Allanon, Berry Bound and Blonde Bella collided at the 250m mark. Blonde Bella checked off Berry Bound approaching the 200m mark. Gin Lee's Joe and Berry Bound collided approaching the 150m mark checking Gin Lee's Joe. Vineyard and Gin Lee's Joe collided at the 150m mark. Vineyard and Blonde Bella collided approaching the winning post.

Magic Trap and Angel Cloud collided soon after the start. Fruit Frames and My Mate Wally collided soon after the start. Mepunga Giant and Aeroplane Hank collided at the 250m mark. Magic Trap and Angel Cloud collided at the 250m mark.

Cosmic Chieftan and Precious Metal were slow to begin.

Cosmic Chieftan and Precious Metal collided at the 300m mark.

A pre race sample was taken from Nunniong Miss.

Where‘s Lola was slow to begin. Ryben Jack and Big Gee Tee collided at the 275m mark. Big Gee Tee faltered at the 100m mark and lost ground as a result.

Big Gee Tee was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an Injury to the right back muscle, a 60 day stand down period was imposed.

The outside temperature at race start time was 29.8 degrees and the inside kennel temperature when the greyhounds were retrieved was 18.3 degrees.

Clover Lad was slow to begin.

Nunniong Plain and Swift Rain collided at the 300m mark. Clover Lad and Bourbon An Kahn collided at the 275m mark. Clover Lad and Rurik collided at the 250m mark. She’s My Blast and Swift Rain collided at the 250m mark.

A sample was taken from Swift Rain - the winner of the event.

Untold Soldier was quick to begin.

Maverick Bob and Destini Radar collided soon after the start. Superior Primo and Maverick Bob collided at the 100m mark.

Stewards spoke to Trainer, Ms N Lund, regarding the performance of Destini Radar today after the greyhjound set a pace after running a first split time of 3.80.  Ms Lund advised that the greyhound was refreshed after a lengthy spell and expected a forward showing given the small field in this event.  Stewards noted the explanation and directed a sample be taken from Destini Radar - the winner of the event.

Eye Got It was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no apparent injury found. Stewards spoke to Mr L. Karabitsakos, representing trainer Mr A. Paraskevas, regarding the performance of Eye Got It ($1.10 favourite) today. Mr Karabitsakos stated that the greyhound normally begins about two lengths in front of the field but missed the start today and could not gain momentum from thereon. Stewards noted the explanation.

Racecourse Road, Superstar Jessie and Superior Briz were slow to begin.

Racecourse Road and Superstar Jessie collided soon after the start and again at the 150m mark. Meehan Pebbles, Dan's Hopeful and Toby Sure collided at the 150m mark. Dan's Hopeful and Superior Briz collided at the 150m mark. Northern Moon faltered at the 75m mark.

Northern Moon was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to the right triangle muscle, a 21 day stand down period was imposed.

A sample was taken from Mumma’s Bear - the winner of the event.

Nimble Lucy was a late scratching at 8:35am by order of Stewards.

Cullquin Panda was slow to begin.

Charlie Rocket and El Grand Richo collided at the 225m mark.

The outside temperature at race start time was 31.4 degrees and the inside kennel temperature when the greyhounds were retrieved was 18.7 degrees.

Go Zippy Go was slow to begin.

Meehan Blue and Rube’s Ablaze collided soon after the start. Go Zippy Go and Bruree Girl collided several times approaching the 250m mark. Meehan Blue and Rube’s Ablaze collided at the 250m mark. Bruree Girl checked off Go Zippy Go approaching the 150m mark. Rube’s Ablaze checked off Meehan Blue at the 100m mark. Take The Spot and Rube’s Ablaze collided at the 50m mark checking Rube’s Ablaze.

Stewards spoke to Mr G. Edwards and Mr T. Salpigitidis regarding their transportation of greyhounds at today's meeting. Stewards were satisfied that both Mr Edwards and Mr Salpigitidis were compliant with the GRV transport policy.

Stewards spoke to Mr F. Vassallo and Mr J. Whybrow regarding their transportation of greyhounds at today's meeting. Stewards established that their respective greyhounds were to be transported in their vehicles on their return trip.
