Steward's Report

Mercedes Red was quick to begin.  Big Deal and Wanchai Express were slow to begin.  Mahi Indian went up with the lids at box rise.

She's For Us and Flying Smart collided soon after the start.  Big Deal checked off Flying Smart approaching the first turn.  Big Deal checked off Mahi Indian entering the back straight checking Wanchai Express.  Big Deal checked off Mahi Indian on the third turn and collided with La Vagabonde.  Big Deal and Mahi Indian collided entering the home straight and again in the home straight.  La Vagabonde visibly eased and turned its head inwards in the home straight.

Stewards spoke to Mr B. Jones, the trainer of La Vagabonde regarding the greyhounds racing manners in the home straight.  La Vagabonde was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained left and right deltoid injuries, a 7 day stand down period was imposed.  Acting under GAR 69(B)(1), the stewards charged La Vagabonde with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury).  Mr Jones pleaded guilty to the charge, La Vagabonde was found guilty and stewards directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a), before any future nomination will be accepted.

A post-race sample was taken from She's For Us - winner of the event.
