Steward's Report
Stewards spoke to Mr D. Despard, the trainer of Our Rocket regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Our Rocket last raced on 6 November 2018 and is returning from a neck injury.
Stewards spoke to Mr O. Fraser, the trainer of Killara John regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Killara John last raced on 25 August 2018 and is returning from spell due to the trainer’s illness.
A pre-race sample was taken from Killara John.
Blonde Bella and Blue Irish were slow to begin.
Sapphire Hawke and Hurricane Craig collided on the first turn checking Sapphire Hawke. Hurricane Craig and Killara John collided approaching the home turn checking Hurricane Craig. Blue Irish failed to pursue the lure with due commitment approaching the home turn. Hurricane Craig galloped on Blue Irish approaching the home turn. Tinker Buzz and Killara John collided approaching the home turn. Blonde Bella and Blue Irish collided on the home turn. Blue Irish and Our Rocket collided on the home turn.
Blue Irish was vetted and re-vetted following event 6. It was reported that the greyhounds sustained an abrasion to the right foot and bruising to the right Achilles, a 3 day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr J. Clay, the representative of the greyhound Blue Irish regarding the greyhounds racing manners approaching the home turn. Acting under GAR 69(A)(1) Stewards charged Blue Irish with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr Clay pleaded not guilty to the charge, Blue Irish was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Warragul and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
