Stewards queried handler Mr Jeff Galea regarding the nomination of Lorenza in this event. Mr Galea explained that connections anticipate the greyhound leading and regaining some confidence and that the event was a restricted win race. Mr Galea added that connections do have some concern with the distance however the greyhound has trialled over 600 metres.

The outside temperature at race start time was 31.6 degrees, the inside kennel temperature immediately prior to the race when the greyhounds were retrieved was ? degrees.

Blue Hazard was slow to begin.

Blue Hazard and Velocity Korina collided soon after the start checking Blue Hazard.  Romanova galloped on Zipping Keely approaching the first turn.  Zipping Keely and Romanova collided on the first turn checking Romanova.  Romanova and Velocity Korina collided approaching the second turn checking both greyhounds.  Blue Hazard and Velocity Korina collided approaching the second turn checking Velocity Korina.  Velocity Korina faltered entering the front straight and pulled up.  Riley Allen checked off Lorenza in the front straight.  Lorenza commenced to tier in the back straight.  Zipping Keely marred Lorenza approaching the fifth turn checking Blue Hazard and severely checking Lorenza.  Zipping Keely and Romanova collided on the fifth turn checking Romanova.  

Lorenza was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained a right biceps injury, a 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Mr Jeff Galea who advised the greyhound would return to 500 metre races and connections would assess the greyhounds immediate future with the kennel. After taking into account the injury and interference suffered Stewards took no action on this performance but will monitor the greyhounds future nominations.

Zipping Keely was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained a left shoulder, chest and sartorius injuries, a 10 day stand down period was imposed. 

Stewards spoke to Mr D. Fisher, the trainer of the greyhound Zipping Keely regarding the greyhounds racing manners approaching the fifth turn. Acting under GAR 69(1) stewards charged Zipping Keely with marring. Mr Fisher pleaded guilty to the charge, Zipping Keely was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Meadows and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.

Velocity Korina was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained sustained a righ hock fracture, a 60 day stand down period was imposed.
