THE MEADOWS TRACK MAINTENANCE - TUESDAY 5TH FEBRUARY.

Please be advised that The Meadows track has been top dressed, graded and lightly harrowed today, Tuesday February 5th.

In accordance with the GRV Hot Weather Policy, today’s meeting was deemed Heat Affected. The outside temperature when the kennels opened was 26.9 degrees, the inside kennel temperature was 18.5 degrees.

The outside temperature at race start time was 31.1 degrees, the inside kennel temperature immediately prior to the race when the greyhounds were retrieved was 18.6 degrees.

Mr Fabulous and Dyna Romy were quick to begin.

Chillin and Vanna Allen collided soon after the start.  Mr. Fabulous and Cutlass collided approaching the first turn.  Cutlass checked off Chillin on the first turn checking Nicky As.  Butch Regis and Vanna Allen collided on the first turn.  Butch Regis, Chillin and Vanna Allen collided on the second turn checking Chillin and Vanna Allen.  Nicky As and Mr. Fabulous collided on the home turn and again in the home straight.

A post-race sample was taken from Dyna Romy - winner of the event.

Stewards queried handler Mr Jeff Galea regarding the nomination of Lorenza in this event. Mr Galea explained that connections anticipate the greyhound leading and regaining some confidence and that the event was a restricted win race. Mr Galea added that connections do have some concern with the distance however the greyhound has trialled over 600 metres.

The outside temperature at race start time was 31.6 degrees, the inside kennel temperature immediately prior to the race when the greyhounds were retrieved was ? degrees.

Blue Hazard was slow to begin.

Blue Hazard and Velocity Korina collided soon after the start checking Blue Hazard.  Romanova galloped on Zipping Keely approaching the first turn.  Zipping Keely and Romanova collided on the first turn checking Romanova.  Romanova and Velocity Korina collided approaching the second turn checking both greyhounds.  Blue Hazard and Velocity Korina collided approaching the second turn checking Velocity Korina.  Velocity Korina faltered entering the front straight and pulled up.  Riley Allen checked off Lorenza in the front straight.  Lorenza commenced to tier in the back straight.  Zipping Keely marred Lorenza approaching the fifth turn checking Blue Hazard and severely checking Lorenza.  Zipping Keely and Romanova collided on the fifth turn checking Romanova.  

Lorenza was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained a right biceps injury, a 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Mr Jeff Galea who advised the greyhound would return to 500 metre races and connections would assess the greyhounds immediate future with the kennel. After taking into account the injury and interference suffered Stewards took no action on this performance but will monitor the greyhounds future nominations.

Zipping Keely was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained a left shoulder, chest and sartorius injuries, a 10 day stand down period was imposed. 

Stewards spoke to Mr D. Fisher, the trainer of the greyhound Zipping Keely regarding the greyhounds racing manners approaching the fifth turn. Acting under GAR 69(1) stewards charged Zipping Keely with marring. Mr Fisher pleaded guilty to the charge, Zipping Keely was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Meadows and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.

Velocity Korina was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained sustained a righ hock fracture, a 60 day stand down period was imposed.

Tommy Time and Courting were quick to begin.

Dyna Aakil, Tessa Allen and Lava You Beauty collided approaching the first turn checking Tessa Allen.  Lava You Beauty, Dyna Aakil and Tommy Time collided on the first turn checking Tommy Time, Gendarme and Tessa Allen. Dyna Eleana and Lava You Beauty checking Lava You Beauty and Nicmac Paddywack.  Dyna Aakil and Dyna Eleana collided approaching the second turn checking Dyna Eleana.  Tommy Time and Nicmac Paddywack collided on the second turn.  Dyna Eleana and Lava You Beauty collided on the third turn. 

A post-race sample was taken from Courting - winner of the event.  

Kukudio was a late scratching at 11:46am due to non-arrival (GAR 31) for a vehicle breakdown. A 28 day stand down period was imposed. 

The outside temperature at race start time was 31.8 degrees, the inside kennel temperature immediately prior to the race when the greyhounds were retrieved was 18.3 degrees.

Tiger Dusty was slow to begin.

A post-race sample was taken from Dyna Alice - winner of the event. 

Stewards spoke to Mr G. Collins, the representative of Dinky Di Ethics regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Dinky Di Ethics last raced on 20 September 2017 and is returning from seasonal and a change of kennels.  Mr Collins also declared a new weight of 25.5kgs for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Dinky Di Ethics last raced at 27.3kgs.

Rockin' Joe and El Donberto were slow to begin and collided soon after the start.  Bluegrass Icon and Dashing Dino collided soon after the start.  Bluegrass icon and Dewana express collided several times on the first turn checking Dewana Express.  Rockin' Joe checked off Bluegrass Icon in the back straight checking El Donberto and Dewana Express.  Rockin' Joe checked off Dewana Express on the third turn.  Dashing Dino and El Donberto collided on the home turn.  

Stewards noted that the muzzle of Dashing Dino became dislodged during the running of this event.

Rockin' Joe was vetted following an incident in the catching pen.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained a left monkey muscle injury, a 5 day stand down period was imposed.

A post-race sample was taken from Dinky Di Ethics - winner of the event.

Dyna Dixon was slow to begin. 

Go Commando checked off Bush Song approaching the first turn.  Raine Allen and St. Regis collided approaching the first turn.  Go Commando and Dyna Dixon collided on the first turn.  Dyna Dixon and Raine Allen collided on the second turn.  Go Commando checked off St. Regis on the third turn.  

Dyna Dixon was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained a left shoulder injury, a 5 day stand down period was imposed.

Venus Allen was a late scratching at 11:46am due to non-arrival (GAR 31) for a vehicle breakdown. A 28 day stand down period was imposed. 

Palisades Park was quick to begin.  Tat James was slow to begin.

Kraken Dust and Palisades Park collided approaching the first turn.  Lektra Zephyr and Go Slow Goldy collided approaching the first turn.  Kraken Dust and Palisades Park collided on the first turn.  Go Slow Goldy and Especial Shiraz collided on the first turn.  Go Slow Goldy checked off Palisades Park on the third turn.

Clovally Grange was a late scratching at 7:37am with Stewards permission.

The outside temperature at race start time was 32.7 degrees, the inside kennel temperature immediately prior to the race when the greyhounds were retrieved was 18.7 degrees.

So Amazing was quick to begin.

Karise Fusileer, Dyna Bonnay, Croucher and Kiss Me Nicki collided approaching the first turn and again on the first turn checking Dyna Bonnay and Croucher.  Karise Fusileer and Croucher collided approaching the second turn checking Kiss Me Nicki.  Croucher and Kiss Me Nicki collided on the second turn and again on the third turn checking Kiss Me Nicki.

A post-race sample was taken from So Amazing - winner of the event.

Showgirl Queen was vetted prior to the running of this event after vomitting in it's kennel, Showgirl Queen was past fit to race.

Zanthre Allen and Lektra Caution were slow to begin.

Zanthre Allen, Why Not Peter, Dyna Garner and Lektra Caution collided on the first turn checking all four greyhounds.  Zanthre Allen contacted the running rail approaching the second turn.  Zanthre Allen and Why Not Peter collided several times on the home turn.

Zanthre Allen was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained a laceration to the left hind thigh and the right hind dorsal, no stand down period was imposed.

A post-race sample was taken from Showgirl Queen - winner of the event.

Warpedo and Winsome Express were slow to begin and collided soon after the start.  Warpedo checked off Start A Riot on the first turn checking Winsome Express.  Kraken Katie and Winsome Express collided on the first turn checking both greyhounds.  

Warpedo was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained a spike wound to the left hind dorsal, no stand down period was imposed.

The outside temperature at race start time was 32.8 degrees, the inside kennel temperature immediately prior to the race when the greyhounds were retrieved was 18.6 degrees.

Living Daylights and Fast Izzi were slow to begin.

Living Daylights and Loch Tight collided on the first turn checking Living Daylights.  Living Daylights checked off Loch Tight on the second turn causing Blue Fabianna to fall.

Blue Fabianna was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained a left chest muscle injury and right foreleg split webbing, a 21 day stand down period was imposed.
