Steward's Report
Batik Print was a late scratching at 2:05pm due to a triangle injury (GAR 23). A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards will require a veterinary certificate before any future nomination will be accepted. Stewards spoke to the kennel representaive Ms B.Glen regarding the late scratching of the greyhound. Ms Glen stated that prior to scratching time this morning that she checked the greyhound and was fit to race. Prior to leaving for the race meeting the greyhound had sustained a triangle injury. Stewards noted Ms Glen explaination and took no further action.
Stewards spoke to Ms B.Kinder, the trainer of Zipping Spud regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Zipping Spud last raced on 11 June, 2018. Ms Kinder stated that the greyhound was resuming racing after a tail injury and new trainer.
Zipping Spud and Flying Joker were quick to begin. Mema Wibble contacted the running rail on the first turn and collided with Lightning Ben and Winlock Blue Boy, checking both greyhounds and severely checking Mema Wibble which fell, severely checking Scarlett Zulu.
Mema Wibble was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained abrasions to the right forearm. A stand down period of 5 days was imposed.
A sample was taken from Hagrid Grange, third placegetter in the event.
