Steward's Report
Stewards spoke to Mrs K White, the trainer of Expense Eve regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Expense Eve last raced on 15th August 2018. Mrs K. White stated that the greyhound was resuming from a right front toe injury.
Ms M. Toner, the representative of All Jokes Aside declared a new weight of 31.2kg for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). All Jokes Aside last raced at 29.7kg.
Fend Off was slow to begin.
Minter Bee Cash, All Jokes Aside, Miyagi Magic and Never Duplicated collided soon after the start checking Minter Bee Cash, All Jokes Aside and Miyagi Magic. Expense Eve, Go Ekay, Miyagi Magic and Fend Off collided on the first turn checking Go Ekay, Miyagi Magic and Fend Off. Minter Bee Cash checked off All Jokes Aside on the first turn. Go Ekay and Fend Off collided approaching the second turn checking both greyhounds. Go Ekay checked off Fend Off on the third turn. Go Ekay and Fend Off collided on the home turn.
Fend Off, which performed below market expectations was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no apparent injury found. Trainer, Mr R. Cunningham stated that he had changed the greyhound's diet since its last start on 13/11/18, as a result the greyhound was 0.9kg up in weight. He also stated it was the greyhound's first start on this track and it may not have been suited by the two turn track. A swab sample was ordered to be taken from the greyhound.
Go Ekay was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.
A post-race sample was taken from Tezzalenko - the winner of the event.
Meeting Comments:
Satisfactory Trial Results - Celestial Jewel trialled over the 515m from box 1, weight 30.4kg, the greyhound was placed first in a field of four starters. The time of the trial was 30.00, the greyhound won by a margin of 1.25 lengths. Celestial Jewel was Cleared.
