Steward's Report
An Out of Competition Sample was taken from Coffee Scroll, engaged in this event, on Monday 9 July pursuant to GAR 79A.
Pursuant to GAR 104(6), lure driver Mr Chris Chilcott was replaced for this event by Mr Cory Hiscock.
Molly Coaster and Drop The Leash were slow to begin. Twist Allen was very slow to begin (10L).
Morpheus, Drop The Leash, Coffee Scroll and Chill Out Webby collided soon after the start, checking Drop The Leash. Hot Finish, Morpheus and Chill Out Webby collided on the first turn, checking Molly Coaster, Morpheus, Hot Finish, Drop The Leash and Coffee Scroll, and causing Chill Out Webby to fall. Morpheus checked off Hot Finish on the second turn and collided with Drop The Leash, checking both greyhounds. Molly Coaster contacted the running rail entering the back straight and lost ground as a result. Molly Coaster and Coffee Scroll collided in the back straight. Molly Coaster checked off Drop The Leash on the home turn.
Stewards spoke to Ms Korie-Lee Heinrich, the handler of the greyhound Twist Allen. Stewards deemed the starting manners of Twist Allen unsatisfactory in this event and acting in accordance with GAR 71, directed that Twist Allen must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) before any future nomination will be accepted.
Twist Allen was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to the left gastrocnemius (calf) muscle and a laceration to the right stopper pad. A five-day stand down was imposed.
Chill Out Webby was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained no apparent injury.
Samples were taken from Palisades Park, the winner of the event, and Hot Finish, the second place-getter in the event.
