Steward's Report
An Out of Competition Sample was taken from Stevie Jane engaged in this event on 9th July 2018 pursuant to GAR 79A.
A pre-race sample was taken from Blondy Two, at the trainer’s kennel during a kennel visit by Stewards earlier today (10th July 2018).
Stewards spoke to Mr. K. Tirchett, the trainer of Mr. Romantic regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Mr. Romantic last raced on 9th April 2018. Mr Tirchett stated that the greyhound had changed kennel.
Limburg Will was slow to begin.
Mr. Romantic and Coco Bongo collided soon after the start. Little Fernando checked off Coco Bongo approaching the first turn, brushed the rail and collided with Mr. Romantic. Smart Sailor, Coco Bongo, Blondy Two and Limburg Will collided on the first turn checking Coco Bongo and Blondy Two. Mr. Romantic galloped of the heels of Little Fernando, severely checking both greyhounds. Smart Sailor and Coco Bongo checked off Blondy Two entering the home straight causing Smart Sailor and Coco Bongo to race wide.
Little Fernando was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.
Smart Sailor was vetted following event five. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a laceration to left hind toe, a 5 day stand down perriod was imposed.
A post-race sample was take from Yeran - winner of the event.
