Limit Man and Lady Bystander were quick to begin. Speckie McKean and Jen's Magic were slow to begin. Cosmic Fantasy, Happy Allen and Dee Jakit collided on the first turn, checking Happy Allen and Dee Jakit. Happy Allen marred the running of Cosmic Fantasy on the first turn, severely checking Cosmic Fantasy and Speckie McKean. Lady Bystander and Three Toots collided on the home turn. Happy Allen marred the running of Cosmic Fantasy entering the home straight, and again in the home straight. Limit Man, Lady Bystander and Three Toots collided in the home straight, checking Limit Man and Lady Bystander.
Three Toots was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained abrasions to both hind legs. No stand down period was imposed.

Stewards issued a warning to Ms. T. Kennedy-Harris, the representative of Jen's Magic regarding the greyhound’s aggressive behaviour in the catching pen.
Stewards spoke to Ms. T. Kennedy-Harris, the representative of the greyhound Happy Allen regarding the greyhounds racing manners on the first turn, entering the home straight and again in the home straight. Acting under GAR 69(1) stewards charged Happy Allen with marring. Ms. Kennedy-Harris pleaded guilty to the charge, Happy Allen was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Geelong and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
