Steward's Report
Balance was slow to begin. Balance checked off Cee Hannah Rose approaching the first turn. Tiger Cabang crossed to the rail on the first turn, checking Mister Peanuts, Arlecchino, Cawbourne Mav and Balance. Cawbourne Mav and Balance collided approaching the home turn. Cee Hannah Rose crossed to the outside entering the home straight and collided with Cawbourne Mav.
Satisfactory Trial Results - Attack Plan trialled over the 390m from box four, weight 32.1kg, the greyhound was placed fourth in a field of four. The time of the trial was 22.44, the greyhound was beaten by a margin of 5.25 lengths. Attack Plan was Cleared.
Satisfactory Trial Results - Cosmic Creek trialled over the 390m from box one, weight 33.4kg, the greyhound was placed second in a field of four. The time of the trial was 22.44, the greyhound was beaten by a margin of 2 lengths. Cosmic Creek was Cleared.
At Ballarat on Monday 2 April 2018, GRV Stewards inquired into an incident that occurred in the kennelling area at the Warrnambool Greyhound Racing Club on Thursday 8 February 2018, shortly after Race 2. After taking evidence from GRV Stewards Bettess, Rea, Watson and licensed Trainer Mr Greg Turnbull, the Stewards issued a charge to Mr Turnbull under GAR 86 (q). The specifics of the charge were that shortly after Race 2 on Thursday 8 February 2018, at the Warrnambool Greyhound Race Club Meeting held on that day, Mr Greg Turnbull, being a registered Trainer with GRV, engaged in conduct that was detrimental to the interests/image of greyhound racing by raising his voice and remonstrating aggressively in the kennelling area. Mr Turnbull pleaded guilty to the charge and was fined $200. When determining penalty, stewards took into consideration Mr Turnbull’s record, his guilty plea, his personnel antecedence and the forthright manner in which he conducted himself before the Stewards today. Against these factors, stewards considered the need for general and specific deterrence, the poor nature of the incident, the incident was openly viewed by other industry participants and the message that uncivil behaviour such as this, is not acceptable from licensed persons and will not tolerated by GRV Officials.
