Steward's Report
Stewards spoke to Mr A.Setford, trainer of Maretto regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Maretto last raced on 11 January 2018. Mr. Setford stated that the greyhound was resuming racing following split webbing to the right hind foot. Mr. Setford declared a new weight of 35.6kg for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Maretto last raced at 34.4kg.
Maretto was slow to begin. Miracles Happen, Angel's Halo and Jemma's Fantasy collided soon after the start. Ledgerwood Molly and Lush Life collided approaching the first turn. Maretto, Lush Life and Smash Flash collided approaching the first turn, checking Lush Life, Miracles Happen, Angel's Halo and Jemma's Fantasy. Angel's Halo checked off Miracles Happen approaching the home turn. Maretto eased on the home turn and collided with Zoehanna Diva. Maretto checked off Lush Life in the home straight.
Maretto was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.
Stewards spoke to Mr. A. Setford, the trainer of the greyhound Maretto regarding the greyhounds racing manners onthe home turn. Acting under GAR 69(A)(1) stewards charged Maretto with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr. Setford pleaded guilty to the charge, Maretto was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Warrnambool and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
